Sunday 2 May 2021
Our day started passage planning to go to East Loch Tarbert before entering the Crinan Canal which links the Firth of Clyde to the Western Isles avoiding the formidable Mull of Kintyre which is a seriously scary headland. Susannah met a fisherman on the way back to the boat who said he thought the canal was closed. It was .. until May 13th. This really threw us. However in true Marine style - improvise, adapt and overcome - we switched routes and sailed instead from Campbeltown to Port Ellen taking the MOK route. We were directed towards a seadog from RedBay Northern Ireland who was happy for us to follow him. So we did.
We didn't actually cross by land....but went very close.
