We woke up to a miserable forecast - particularly note Fog column....!
Nevertheless, after a cup of tea, the visibility in the Marina improved, the wind was from the right direction, and so we locked out at 8.30 and turned towards Brighton.
We rounded Beachy Head reasonably close, but not spitting distance this time.
We made such good progress that we had to reef right down in order to slow up as we couldn't arrive until 2 hours after low water at Eastbourne. We still cantered along at 4 knots.
We arrived on the dot of being allowed into the harbour having passed iconic Roedean School.
The final challenge of the day was to avoid massive dredgers in the Marina and had to back down a fairway as they suddenly started manoeuvring. At last all tied up and able to relax after a varied and interesting day....
We were scooped up by Susannah's brother Paul to go back to his house for a delicious dinner and Jim greeted us on the doorstep.....
Are we really nearly home?? 😊
Congratulations, welcome home. That picture of Roedean took me back, a long way!
Just seen the picture of you off Newtown - sorry to have missed you coming past Cowes. A fantastic achievement, many many congratulations. 🎉❤️🥰😁
What a blast!! Xxx
