The bridge didn't open until 2.30 pm, and so we had a lovely morning exploring Whitby and visiting the Capt. Cook Museum in the home of his apprentice master John Walker.
Some helpful tips for Patrick and Susannah's trip across the Pacific:
Leaving Whitby....
....through the swing bridge....
Bypassed Scarborough in order to avoid locking in and to make a few more miles on our way to Grimsby. As a result we were able to enjoy anchoring at Filey Bay. A disturbed night despite being flat calm with continuous North Sea swell rolling us about.
Good book to read about Pacific navigation : "We the Navigators" by David Lewis. Get Nick to tell you the story of how his uncle was key in getting it published!
